Lockheed Martin, Rheinmetall expand missile partnership in Germany
Lockheed Martin and Rheinmetall have agreed to expand their partnership by establishing a missile and rocket manufacturing center in Germany, which will serve as a European center of excellence aimed at enhancing regional security and defense self-reliance. The initiative, led by Rheinmetall, is intended to support NATO commitments and address growing European demand for military equipment, especially in light of the need to support Ukraine and replenish defense stockpiles. The companies plan to leverage Rheinmetall's regional expertise and Lockheed Martin's advanced missile technologies to bolster Europe's defense industrial base. The agreement extends a memorandum of understanding signed in June 2024 and is subject to approval by the U.S. and German governments. Both companies emphasize that this collaboration will not only involve sales but also significant local production, strengthening transatlantic security and creating jobs in both Europe and the U.S.
