Two U.S. service members were injured during a joint raid with Iraqi security forces in Iraq that resulted in the deaths of multiple Islamic State operatives, including the group's leader, Jassim al-Masroui Abu Abdel Qadir. Pentagon spokesperson Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder confirmed that both injured troops are in stable condition. Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani announced that the operation, which took place in the Hamrin Mountains, successfully targeted senior ISIS leaders. The identities of additional ISIS members killed will be confirmed following DNA tests. This raid is part of ongoing U.S. efforts to combat ISIS, with approximately 2,500 troops remaining in Iraq as part of a counter-terrorism mission. The Pentagon is conducting a post-mission analysis and will provide further details as they become available.
