Local Women's Water Polo Teams Prepare for 2025 Season

The Santa Barbara High girls water polo team split their matches at the Thousand Oaks Tournament, achieving an 11-3 victory over Nordhoff but falling 19-12 to Newbury Park, with standout performances from Juliana Horton and Yesenia Dunn. Meanwhile, the San Marcos girls secured a 13-6 win against San Clemente, showcasing strong defense and excellent goalkeeping from Bethany King, who also contributed offensively. The Royals will face Oaks Christian next. Looking ahead, the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos are preparing for their 2025 season, emphasizing leadership from a blend of seniors and freshmen, while the UC Davis Aggies anticipate a competitive season, ranked fifth in their conference. Both teams are set to begin their campaigns soon, with UCSB participating in the Winter Invitational and UC Davis in the ASU Cross-Conference Challenge. The Big West Conference play begins in March for both squads.
