Two Delta Regional Jets Collide at LaGuardia Taxiway
Two Delta Air Lines regional jets operated by Endeavor Air collided on a taxiway at New York’s LaGuardia Airport shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday in a low-speed collision. Delta said the wing of the departing flight to Roanoke (Endeavor Flight 5155) struck the fuselage of the arriving flight from Charlotte (Flight 5047). There were 93 passengers and crew aboard the two aircraft (Flight 5155: 4 crew and 28 passengers; Flight 5047: 4 crew and 57 passengers), and passengers were escorted off the planes. At least one person was treated and one person was hospitalized; accounts varied on whether the injured individual was a flight attendant or a passenger, and overall injuries appeared minimal. Video and some reports showed substantial damage, including a missing wing on one aircraft, while Delta said airport operations were not expected to be impacted and that it will work with authorities to review the incident and assist customers with rebooking and hotel arrangements.
