Yard Goats to Debut Thunder Chickens Identity May 29

The Hartford Yard Goats, the Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, have announced a new alternate identity, the 'Hartford Thunder Chickens,' for the 2025 season. This playful moniker is inspired by the loud gobbling of wild turkeys, prevalent in Connecticut, and also refers to the ruffed grouse, another native bird. The Thunder Chickens' identity will debut with a game on May 29, 2025, featuring players in themed jerseys and caps with a lightning-lit turkey logo. This is part of the Yard Goats' tradition of quirky alternate identities, having previously used names like Bouncing Pickles and Los Chivos. Tickets for all home games will go on sale on February 7, 2025. The team's second alternate identity will be revealed on February 6, 2025, alongside their full promotional schedule.
