This move, following the closure of MTV News in May 2023 due to financial hardships, has redirected the site’s URL to MTV's main page, removing thousands of articles and interviews, including the significant 'Mixtape Monday' column. Former MTV News staffers expressed their frustration on social media, lamenting the loss of invaluable pop culture history. The decision also affected CMT.com, another Paramount-owned site, which faced similar archival deletions.
