Delhi Court to Hear ANI Lawsuit Against Netflix

News agency ANI has filed a lawsuit against Netflix and the producers of the series 'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack' for allegedly using their footage without permission and tarnishing their trademark. The lawsuit demands the removal of four out of the six episodes that extensively use ANI's content, claiming copyright infringement. Criticism has also emerged from social media and BJP members for the series' portrayal of the hijackers with Hindu names, while they were Muslims in reality. Netflix added disclaimers to the show following a summons by India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, clarifying that the code names used were based on actual events. The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear the case and has sought Netflix's response. The controversy centers around the depiction of the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines flight 814 and its political ramifications.
