Otis Alexander Williams Sr. Passes Away at 85

Otis Alexander Williams Sr., a dedicated educator and community member, passed away on March 7, 2025, at the age of 92. Born in Mayersville, Mississippi, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War before earning degrees in biology and education from Southern University. Williams had a notable career in education, serving as a principal and assistant principal in Vicksburg, where he was also active in various community organizations, including the Vicksburg Bridge Commission. He is survived by his wife, Odessa, and daughter, Opal, among other family members. A memorial service is scheduled for March 22, 2025, at Mt. Calvary M.B. Church in Vicksburg. His legacy as an educator and community leader will be remembered by many.
