Subaru Unveils 2026 Solterra, Trailseeker EVs

Subaru unveiled the updated 2026 Solterra EV at the New York International Auto Show, featuring a major design overhaul, a new 74.7 kWh battery with an estimated 285-mile range, and faster 150 kW charging with battery preconditioning for improved cold-weather performance. The Solterra now supports Tesla's NACS charging standard, granting access to the Supercharger network. Performance improvements include a new XT trim with 338 horsepower and 0-60 mph acceleration in under five seconds, as well as enhanced AWD capability. In addition to the Solterra, Subaru introduced the Trailseeker, an Outback-sized EV offering 375 horsepower, a 260-mile range, and advanced off-road features. Though these updates address past criticisms, some analysts note that Subaru’s EV range still lags behind industry leaders. The launches demonstrate Subaru’s commitment to expanding its EV lineup and competitiveness.
