Alex Dunne Regains Formula 2 Lead After Barcelona Comeback

Ireland's Alex Dunne continues to lead the FIA Formula 2 championship after an impressive weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. Despite starting the sprint race from 19th due to grid penalties for incidents in Monaco and practice, Dunne drove skillfully to finish second, overtaking rivals and retaking the championship lead. He maintained his momentum in the feature race, starting eighth and finishing fifth, securing valuable points and the fastest lap, which solidified his position atop the standings. Dunne now holds a three-point lead over Richard Verschoor, with Arvid Lindblad, who won the feature race, in third place. Part of McLaren’s driver development program, Dunne has demonstrated resilience and pace throughout the season, including two prior feature race wins. With eight race weekends remaining in the F2 season, Dunne's performances have kept him a strong contender for the title.
