James Gunn Denies Robin Inclusion in The Batman Part II
James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has firmly denied rumors that the character Robin will appear in Matt Reeves' upcoming film The Batman Part II, emphasizing that only a handful of people have read the script and that all speculation is unfounded. Gunn also dispelled claims about the fan-favorite villain Hush being part of the film, stating that no one outside a small circle knows the story details. The Batman Part II, directed by Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, is part of DC's Elseworlds line and distinct from Gunn's DC Universe (DCU), which will have its own Batman series featuring a different actor. Production for the sequel is set to begin in spring 2026, with a release date scheduled for October 1, 2027. Despite rumors from sources like Jeff Sneider suggesting a darker script with Robin's inclusion, Gunn has urged fans to refrain from believing such unverified claims. The dual Batman film strategy by DC Studios aims to maintain separate continuities, with Reeves’ version continuing the standalone universe and Gunn's DCU exploring new storylines.
