Lubbock Suspect Flees After Police Claim Narcotics-Smelling Horse
In Lubbock, Texas, police officers on horseback pursued a suspect after a joking remark about their horse being able to smell narcotics triggered him to flee. Officers Bryson Lewis and William Trotter, part of the Lubbock Police Department's Mounted Patrol Unit, stopped Joseph Ramirez and others for walking in the road and acting suspiciously. When Ramirez declined a search, Trotter jokingly claimed his horse could detect narcotics, which caused Ramirez to run away, initiating a horse-versus-human chase. The officers quickly caught up and arrested Ramirez, who was charged with evading arrest and tampering with evidence. The incident was shared by the Lubbock Police Department as "the most Texan video you'll see today," highlighting the unusual but effective mounted pursuit. The video has since gone viral, capturing attention for its humor and the swift police response.
