East Cleveland Police Officers Shot, Suspect Sought
Two East Cleveland police officers were shot and wounded late Thursday night while responding to incidents believed to be connected and involving the same suspect. The first officer was shot in the leg during a domestic incident on North Taylor Road, and the second was shot in the buttocks near the Town House Motel on Euclid Avenue; both are in stable condition at University Hospitals. Police have launched a large-scale search and SWAT operation using drones to locate the suspect, with the area remaining under heavy police presence. The shootings unfolded as officers initially surrounded a home and then responded to further gunfire nearby. Local officials, including Mayor Lateek Shabazz, have scheduled a press conference for 10 a.m. Friday to provide updates. Authorities have not yet made any arrests and continue to urge the public to remain cautious.
