U.S. Cities Announce 2025 Independence Day Fireworks

Communities across Connecticut and other U.S. states are organizing a variety of Independence Day 2025 celebrations, with fireworks displays and festivals taking place from late June through mid-July. Notable fireworks shows are set for New Haven's East Rock Park on July 4, Fairfield's Compo Beach on July 2, and Manchester's 40th annual Dutch Fogarty Celebration on July 5. Enfield will host its 40th annual celebration from July 11-13, while Stamford, Oxford, and Rockville will also hold community events with parades, live music, and family activities. Fortuna, California, will kick off festivities early on July 3 with a family-friendly festival and dance party. These events honor the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, and reflect a tradition of fireworks and gatherings that began in Philadelphia in 1777. Independence Day became a federal holiday in 1941, though its observance has long been a part of American history.
