Two Teen Boys Drown in Pennsylvania Waterways August 2024

An 18-year-old man, Jeril Allen Paul Hutton from Coalport, Clearfield County, drowned in the Allegheny River in Sandycreek Township, Venango County. Witnesses reported seeing Hutton enter the river and be pulled under by the current despite their attempts to help him. Emergency personnel responded but were unable to resuscitate him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Hutton had been reported missing from Oil City a few hours before the incident, and the cause of death was ruled accidental drowning by the Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh. The Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the incident, which marks the sixth water-related death in the Erie region since early June. Multiple local fire departments, EMS, and state agencies assisted at the scene.
