Lorry Fire Causes M25 Traffic Disruptions

A Tesco lorry caught fire after crashing into the central reservation on the M25 between Junction 5 near Sevenoaks and Junction 6 near Godstone around 10 PM on October 20, prompting a full closure of the motorway in both directions. Dashcam footage captured the vehicle appearing to drift before the incident, which resulted in flames engulfing the lorry. Emergency services, including Surrey Fire and Rescue, dispatched five fire engines to manage the blaze, while the driver sustained only minor injuries. The clockwise carriageway is expected to remain closed until at least midday on October 21 for recovery and potential resurfacing, while lanes 3 and 4 of the anti-clockwise carriageway are also closed. Authorities have warned of severe delays and advised motorists to find alternative routes. National Highways confirmed that traffic management teams are on site, and all vehicles caught in the closure have been released.
