Initially charged with first-degree murder, McIntyre agreed to a plea deal resulting in a prison sentence ranging from 20 to 40 years. The Michigan Attorney General's office, led by Dana Nessel, announced the plea and emphasized its commitment to supporting Lake County during the prosecutorial transition following the resignation of the local prosecuting attorney.
