Columbia University COO's Home Vandalized
The Brooklyn Heights apartment building of Columbia University COO Cas Holloway was vandalized with red paint, live insects, and smashed glass by pro-Palestinian protesters. The vandals left threatening posters and letters criticizing Holloway's handling of campus protests and Columbia's investments in Israel. The NYPD is investigating, with assistance from the New York State Police’s hate crimes task force, but no arrests have been made yet. Columbia University and New York Governor Kathy Hochul condemned the act as antisemitic and stressed that such hateful displays will not be tolerated. The use of inverted red triangles, a symbol used by Hamas and historically by Nazis, was particularly noted in the graffiti. Neighbors expressed anger and concern over the incident but emphasized that such vandalism was not an effective form of protest.
