Iran reports no US contact since Trump's return

Iran has not exchanged any messages with the United States since Donald Trump's return to the White House, according to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi. He emphasized that the situation surrounding the nuclear negotiations is complicated due to Trump's previous withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and expressed Iran's need for guarantees from the US to rebuild trust. Recent talks between Iran and European nations, including Britain, France, and Germany, have been described as 'frank and constructive,' with plans for another round of discussions anticipated soon. Despite the stalled negotiations, Iran remains open to reviving the JCPOA, as highlighted by President Masoud Pezeshkian's call for an end to the country's isolation. The current diplomatic climate remains tense, with Iran insisting that non-nuclear issues will not be included in future negotiations. The impasse continues as both sides await clearer signals from the US regarding its policy approach.
