Peterborough Man Arrested After A47 Crash Hospitalizes Woman
Two serious traffic incidents resulted in arrests and hospitalizations in the UK. In Shetland, a 19-year-old man was arrested after a woman was struck by a car on the A970 near Levenwick during rush hour; the woman was hospitalized and the road temporarily closed with a diversion in place. Separately, on the A47 between Thorney and Thorney Toll in Cambridgeshire, a 50-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol and drugs and causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a collision between a car and a motorbike. The female motorcyclist was seriously injured and transported to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. The A47 was closed for several hours before reopening in the early afternoon. Both incidents involved ongoing investigations and police custody of the arrested individuals.
