Odisha Government Plans Statue Installations

The Odisha government has announced plans to install statues of 21 eminent personalities across various districts to celebrate their contributions to the state's culture and the freedom struggle. This initiative, led by Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, aims to educate the youth about historical figures such as Bhajan Samrat Bhikari Bal, freedom fighter Dharma Singh Mandhata Majhi, and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Key locations for the installations include Kendrapara, Balangir, Bhubaneswar, and Sambalpur, with a notable centerpiece being a 150-foot statue of tribal leader Birsa Munda at a proposed memorial park in Sundargarh. The government has allocated Rs 2 crore for the installation of these statues, emphasizing the importance of these figures in shaping Odisha's identity. The statues will serve as a reminder of their legacies and contributions, ensuring they remain part of the cultural narrative for future generations.
