Emma Raducanu Distressed by 'Fixated' Fan at Dubai Championships

Emma Raducanu experienced severe emotional distress during a match at the Dubai Championships last month after spotting a man fixated on her in the stands. She reported that she 'couldn’t see the ball through tears' and struggled to breathe, leading to the match being paused as security escorted the man out. This individual had approached Raducanu earlier in the tournament and was later detained by Dubai police, signing an agreement to maintain distance from her. Speaking at the BNP Paribas Open, Raducanu reflected on the incident, stating it was a very emotional time and that her post-match tears were not solely due to losing the match. She acknowledged that security measures have since improved, noting she is now always accompanied by someone for safety. Raducanu is set to compete against Japan's Moyuka Uchijima in her first match since the incident.
