Manchester Prepares Funeral for Boxing Champion Ricky Hatton

Ricky Hatton's funeral will be held at Manchester Cathedral at midday on Friday 10 October; the service itself is by invitation only. Members of the public are invited to pay their respects as the funeral cortege passes through Manchester, and funeral directors Frank Massey and Son said the route will be published soon. Hatton, 46, was found dead at his home in Hyde on 14 September; Greater Manchester Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and an inquest is underway. The former IBF world welterweight champion, who beat Kostya Tszyu in Manchester in 2005 and later fought Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, has received an outpouring of tributes. His family paid tribute to him as "Richard", remembering him as a loving father, grandfather and friend, and many recalled his openness about mental health and his connection to fans.
