Jacob Abel Joins Dale Coyne Racing for 2025 IndyCar

Jacob Abel, a 23-year-old Kentucky native, has been signed by Dale Coyne Racing to compete as a full-time driver for the 2025 IndyCar Series, marking his debut at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 2. Abel will drive the #51 car, a move aimed at bringing consistency to the team after a tumultuous previous season with multiple drivers. His impressive performance in the Indy NXT circuit, where he won three races and secured 10 podium finishes, earned him this opportunity. Abel's career progression has been notable, moving from eighth in the points standings in 2022 to a runner-up finish last year. Team owner Dale Coyne expressed confidence in Abel's potential, following a successful evaluation test in 2023. The team is also finalizing plans for a second full-time driver for the #18 car, with an announcement expected soon.
