Royals' Witt, Bubic Named AL All-Star Reserves

Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. and pitcher Kris Bubic have been selected as American League reserves for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, with Witt making his second appearance and Bubic his first after posting a 2.36 ERA in 17 starts. Witt leads MLB in doubles, has a .294 batting average, and recently extended his hitting streak while hitting his 13th home run in a win over the Pirates. Bubic has emerged as the Royals' ace after returning from Tommy John surgery. Maikel Garcia and closer Carlos Estévez were notable All-Star snubs, despite Garcia's .303 average and Estévez's status among AL saves leaders. Witt confirmed he will not participate in the Home Run Derby this year and is also expected to make his third appearance for Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
