Viking Vela Joins Fleet in Italy Ceremony

Viking has officially welcomed its newest ocean ship, the Viking Vela, during a delivery ceremony at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy. The Viking Vela features 499 staterooms accommodating up to 998 guests and is classified as a small ship, consistent with Viking's fleet. This new addition will embark on its inaugural season sailing itineraries across the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. Viking is also developing a partial hybrid propulsion system for future ships, aiming for zero-emission operations in sensitive environments, while the Viking Vela is hydrogen-ready for potential retrofitting. The delivery of the Vela follows Viking's recognition as the top cruise line in multiple categories by Condé Nast Traveler and U.S. News & World Report. The Viking Vela is the 13th ship delivered by Fincantieri to Viking, underscoring a strong partnership between the two companies.
