Two Semi-Truck Crashes Kill Men in Idaho, Florida
Two fatal incidents involving semi trucks occurred recently on U.S. interstates. On July 13, a 57-year-old man from Windermere, Florida, died when his 2026 Freightliner rolled over on Interstate 84 near Malta, Idaho, after he left the roadway and overcorrected; the passenger was hospitalized and both were wearing seat belts. The crash blocked both westbound lanes for about four hours and is under investigation by Idaho State Police. Separately, on the morning of the same day, Alberto Valderrama, 70, was killed on Interstate 75 in Broward, Florida, after exiting his car on the shoulder and walking into the center lane, where he was struck and killed by a semi truck driver who swerved but could not avoid him. The semi truck driver in the Florida crash was not injured and stopped on the shoulder after the collision. These incidents highlight the dangers present on highways involving large commercial vehicles and pedestrians.
