Evansville Home Invasion Leaves Suspect Dead, Two Others Fugitive

A deadly shooting occurred during a home invasion on Sweetser Avenue in Evansville when a resident shot one of three intruders who forcibly entered the home. The intruders, described as black males wearing all-black clothing, masks, and gloves, fled after one was fatally shot. The resident cooperated with police, who are still searching for the two suspects who escaped. Subsequently, two brothers, Cameron and Christian Thomas, were arrested on marijuana dealing charges related to the investigation; Christian also faces obstruction of justice for removing drugs and a firearm from the home post-shooting. Authorities emphasized that the resident's use of force falls under Indiana's Castle Doctrine, allowing protection of one's home. Police have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public and continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
