The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has unveiled the Meerut Metro, a state-of-the-art urban Mass Rapid Transit System aimed at revolutionizing transportation in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The 23-kilometer corridor includes 13 stations, with a mix of elevated and underground sections, designed to significantly reduce travel time and alleviate traffic congestion. The modern trainsets, manufactured in India under the 'Make in India' initiative, can accommodate over 700 passengers and boast advanced safety features, including platform screen doors and emergency communication systems. With a maximum operational speed of 120 km/h, the metro aims to enhance connectivity and promote economic growth in the region. Integration with Namo Bharat train services at select stations will provide seamless transit options for commuters. NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel emphasized that the metro is tailored to meet commuter needs, promising comfort and efficiency for users.
