Sulif Ibnal Sid Wilkins, a 34-year-old man from Leavenworth, faces seven felony charges, including attempted capital murder, after allegedly firing a sawed-off shotgun at Overland Park police officers in a McDonald's parking lot on September 17. The incident began when a McDonald's employee reported that Wilkins pointed a gun at him and another woman. Upon police arrival, Wilkins allegedly committed armed robbery and, when confronted, fired several shots at the officers before the weapon either jammed or ran out of ammunition. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and Wilkins was taken into custody without further incident. He has a lengthy criminal history, including multiple felony convictions and a prior federal conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Wilkins is currently held on a $5 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on September 26.
