Trumpet of Patriots Fails to Win Seats Despite $60 Million Campaign
Clive Palmer’s Trumpet of Patriots party failed to secure a single seat in the Australian federal election despite spending tens of millions of dollars on advertising and sending unsolicited text messages to voters. With approximately 1.46% of the national vote, the party’s lower house performance lagged behind even minor parties that barely campaigned. The Trump-inspired party fielded nearly 100 candidates and heavily targeted both the House and Senate but is only a distant contender for a Senate seat in Queensland. Key policies included cutting immigration, removing Welcome to Country ceremonies, and adopting more Trump-like governance, none of which resonated with voters. The party's aggressive campaign, including spam texts without opt-out options, drew public backlash and did not translate into electoral success. Other minor parties, such as Legalise Cannabis Australia and One Nation, are now seen as more likely to win Senate seats.
