Uzbekistan Boosts Global Trade, Diplomacy With Russia, Türkiye, Jordan, US

Uzbekistan has significantly strengthened its international relations and economic ties in 2025, marked by record-high cooperation with Russia, expanding partnerships with the United States, and deepening connections with Middle Eastern and Turkish counterparts. Ambassador Botirjon Asadov highlighted a nearly tripled trade turnover with Russia over eight years, with tourism from Russia rising by 12%, and upcoming presidential talks planned to further enhance collaboration. Diplomatic engagements with the U.S., including meetings between Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and U.S. Special Envoy Paolo Zampolli, focused on boosting education, trade, innovation, and cultural exchanges, alongside plans to open a new American Corner in Tashkent. The historic state visit of Jordan’s King Abdullah II led to 15 signed agreements and the introduction of a visa-free regime, with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev receiving Jordan’s highest honor, reflecting Uzbekistan’s growing influence and reform-driven foreign policy. Trade and investment with Türkiye are also on the rise, as noted by the Uzbek ambassador emphasizing a growing number of Turkish companies in Uzbekistan and initiatives to foster regional economic and cultural ties, including participation in international gastronomy festivals.
