Putin Warns US Tariffs on India, China Risk Global Price Rise, US Economic Slowdown
Russian President Vladimir Putin has strongly criticized the United States for attempting to pressure India and China into cutting energy ties with Russia, warning that imposing higher tariffs on Russia's trade partners could backfire and harm the US economy by driving up global prices and forcing the Federal Reserve to maintain high interest rates. Putin emphasized that India and China, described as self-respecting nations, will not allow themselves to be humiliated, expressing confidence in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resolve against such pressure. He highlighted the hypocrisy of the US, which purchases enriched uranium from Russia while urging others to stop buying Russian energy, and accused Western nations of clinging to outdated colonial mindsets. Putin also underscored Russia's gratitude toward countries like India and China for fostering a multipolar world and rejecting alignment with Western geopolitical dictates. Additionally, Putin warned of a significant Russian response to Europe's increasing militarization but dismissed the likelihood of Russia attacking NATO members. His statements come amid ongoing US criticism of India’s purchase of Russian oil and tariffs imposed on Indian exports, which have raised tensions in international trade relations.
