SEC Releases 2026–29 Conference Opponents

The Southeastern Conference released opponents for the 2026–29 cycle under a new nine-game conference schedule, announcing annual opponents over the four-year span rather than full year-by-year slates. The league says every team will face each conference foe at least once every two years and will play home-and-away against each opponent across the four-year cycle; the plan will be reevaluated after the cycle. The change ends some long-running annual matchups — most notably Alabama-LSU — and the SEC projected annual opponents for some schools (for example, LSU with Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Arkansas). The SEC indicated LSU will not play Alabama in 2027 and will not play Florida in the 2026 season, drawing debate about TV appeal and rivalry logic. South Carolina’s three permanent opponents are Florida, Georgia and Kentucky, and its 2026 slate includes five home league games (Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas A&M) and four road games (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Oklahoma), with a trip to Texas not scheduled until 2029.
