Philadelphia Implements Extensive Road Closures, Transit Detours for 2025 Philly 10K

The 12th annual Philly 10K is scheduled for Sunday, August 24, 2025, starting at 7:30 a.m. on the 800 block of South Street and finishing on the 500 block of South Street, running through South Philadelphia. Packet pickup for participants is available at the Diadora Kickoff Party on August 22 and 23 at Cherry Street Pier, which also offers race merchandise, food, and beverages. Significant road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect from early morning until approximately 2 p.m., affecting major streets such as South Street, 4th, 5th, East Passyunk Avenue, Bainbridge, and others, with rolling closures lifted as runners pass. SEPTA bus routes 12, 23, 29, 40, 45, 47, 47M, 57, 64, and 79 will be detoured starting at midnight Sunday through noon, and motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and expect delays. The event is rain or shine, with participants notified promptly in case of extreme weather, and safety measures include law enforcement presence and restrictions on unattended items. Post-race festivities will include live music, dancing, and street vendors, extending the event’s impact on local traffic and community activities.
