UN Reports Israel Commits Extermination Crimes Destroying Gaza Schools, Religious Sites
A United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry has accused Israel of committing war crimes and the crime against humanity of extermination in Gaza, highlighting a deliberate campaign to obliterate Palestinian life by targeting educational, religious, and cultural sites. The report reveals that over 90% of school and university buildings and more than half of religious sites in Gaza have been destroyed, severely disrupting education for over 658,000 children and undermining Palestinians’ right to self-determination. Israeli forces have been documented conducting airstrikes, shelling, and controlled demolitions, with attacks on civilians sheltering in schools and religious sites resulting in significant casualties, including paramedics and displaced families. While Israel claims it targets Hamas operatives using civilian infrastructure as cover and strives to minimize collateral damage, the UN Commission rejects this justification and emphasizes the systematic nature of these attacks. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is rapidly deteriorating, with recent Israeli strikes killing dozens of Palestinians, including aid seekers and medical personnel, intensifying the crisis. Israel has disengaged from the UN Human Rights Council, dismissing the findings as biased, while the conflict continues to escalate amidst international condemnation.
