Hundreds Female Lifeguards Compete Long Island Northeast Events

Lifeguard competitions and events are taking place across the United States this summer, showcasing water safety skills and promoting drowning prevention. On Long Island, over 200 women participated in an all-female lifeguard competition, highlighting the increasing role of women in a traditionally male-dominated field. In El Paso, the annual Christian Castle Lifeguard Olympics will feature teams competing in lifesaving skills to raise awareness about drowning prevention in the community. The Northeast hosted a lifeguard tournament in Newport, where over 100 competitors took part in paddle, rowboat, and swim rescue events to claim regional bragging rights. In San Diego, junior lifeguards participated in the 34th annual Scripps Pier jump event, which helps fund scholarships and free swimming lessons for local youth. Additionally, junior lifeguards from Southampton earned medals at the USLA Mid-Atlantic Regionals, demonstrating strong regional competition and training achievements.
