South Florida Teacher Arrested for Sex Crimes

Candace Brown, a 35-year-old teacher from Sawgrass Adventist School in Plantation, Florida, was arrested for allegedly engaging in inappropriate sexual acts with a 14-year-old male student over the summer in Deerfield Beach. She faces multiple charges, including lewd and lascivious battery, and has surrendered to authorities. Detectives from the Broward Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit suspect there may be additional victims and have urged anyone with information to come forward. In a separate case, Jody Watts, a 49-year-old employee at Thomas Academy in North Carolina, was also charged with sex crimes involving a minor and drug possession. Watts allegedly coerced a 17-year-old female student into sexual activity via FaceTime, with cocaine found in his vehicle during the investigation. Both schools have emphasized their commitment to student safety and are cooperating with law enforcement.
