San Diego County Animal Services Pursue Charges Against Spring Valley Woman for Chihuahua Abuse
San Diego County Animal Services has taken custody of a small Chihuahua and is pursuing animal cruelty charges against a Spring Valley woman after a video surfaced showing her striking the dog with a wooden plank, covering it with a container, and kicking it. The incident was recorded by a concerned citizen on July 21 in a Spring Valley apartment complex parking lot. The woman, reportedly living out of her vehicle, was located by officers on August 10, read her Miranda rights, and cooperated with the investigation. The Chihuahua, described as very petite and frightened, is undergoing a cruelty exam and is reported to be recovering well. County Animal Services is submitting the video and other evidence to the District Attorney’s Office and recommends filing animal cruelty charges. Officials emphasized the importance of community vigilance in reporting suspected animal abuse and encouraged the public to report such cases immediately.
