Krypto the Superdog to Appear in Superman Film

Director James Gunn has announced that Krypto the Superdog will make his live-action debut in the upcoming Superman film, inspired by Gunn's own rescue dog, Ozu. This marks Krypto's first appearance in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), despite having been a part of the comics since 1955. Gunn shared that Ozu’s challenging behavior upon adoption from a hoarding situation led him to imagine a superpowered version of the dog, influencing Krypto's role in the film. The movie, set to release on July 11, 2025, will star David Corenswet as Superman and will showcase Krypto teaming up with the hero. Gunn's heartfelt announcement coincides with Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, emphasizing the importance of pet adoption. Krypto's character, known for sharing superpowers with Superman, will also appear in the subsequent Supergirl film.
