Fillmore Jazz Festival Secured for 2025 After Community Support

The Fillmore Jazz Festival, once canceled due to financial difficulties, has been revived thanks to community support and a significant grant from Avenue Greenlight, a nonprofit led by crypto billionaire Chris Larsen. Initially facing a budget exceeding $500,000 and ongoing debts from previous events, festival organizers were forced to announce the cancellation, sparking community concern. Following this announcement, Larsen and local supervisors stepped in to provide the necessary financial backing, allowing the festival to proceed on July 5-6, 2025. The Fillmore Merchants Association has also launched a preservation fund to ensure the festival's long-term viability and maintain its free status. Organizers are actively seeking additional donations and sponsors to support future events. The festival, a staple of San Francisco's cultural scene since 1983, draws over 100,000 attendees each year.
