Tennessee Basketball Welcomes Transfer Ja'Kobi Gillespie

Ja'Kobi Gillespie, a standout point guard from Maryland, has committed to play for the Tennessee Volunteers via the transfer portal. Gillespie, a Greeneville, Tennessee native, averaged 14.7 points, 4.8 assists, and 1.9 steals per game at Maryland and was named to the All-Big Ten third team. He fills a crucial need for Tennessee following the graduation of Zakai Zeigler, and is expected to play a significant role for the Volunteers next season. Before Maryland, Gillespie spent two seasons at Belmont, where he was a prolific scorer and playmaker. His return to Tennessee is seen as a homecoming and a strategic fit for the team.
