Willi Carlisle, the Missouri-based folksinger, has announced his upcoming album, 'Winged Victory', set for release on June 27 via Signature Sounds. This marks his first self-produced album and follows the critically acclaimed 'Critterland'. The lead single, 'Work is Work', critiques capitalism and the nature of labor through a bluegrass lens, with Carlisle reflecting on the meaning of work and its impact on personal fulfillment. He wrote the song in a motel room along the Mississippi River, expressing his belief that the sacrifices made in work aren't meaningless. Alongside the album's release, Carlisle will embark on an extensive tour across the U.S., UK, and the Netherlands, featuring 42 headlining shows this fall. 'Winged Victory' includes original compositions and traditional folk covers, promising to be a heartfelt exploration of themes relevant to today's society.
