ZeroAvia Raises $150 Million in Series C Funding

ZeroAvia, a startup focused on hydrogen-electric propulsion, has successfully raised $150 million in its Series C funding round, with a notable £20 million investment from the Scottish National Investment Bank. The funding round was co-led by Airbus, Barclays Sustainable Impact Capital, and Saudi Arabia's NEOM Investment Fund, and includes contributions from major players like American Airlines and Alaska Airlines. ZeroAvia aims to develop hydrogen-electric engines capable of powering regional aircraft and has already conducted flight tests on its ZA600 engine. The company is seeking certification for a powertrain designed for up to 20-seat aircraft and plans to expand its manufacturing capabilities in the UK. Despite significant technological hurdles facing hydrogen aviation, ZeroAvia's advancements contribute to efforts in reducing the aviation industry's greenhouse gas emissions.
