Fond du Lac Hatchet Attack Suspect Held on $5 Million Bond
Hayden L. Daffinson of Ripon was charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree sexual assault, two counts of mayhem, first-degree reckless injury, aggravated battery, felony intimidation of a victim, and false imprisonment after a brutal axe attack on his ex-girlfriend in Fond du Lac. The victim suffered severe injuries, including near severing of her wrist and finger, and was airlifted for extensive surgery. The attack occurred on June 22 when Daffinson, who had purchased the hatchet shortly before the assault, struck the victim multiple times and sexually assaulted her, threatening to kill her if she reported the crime. Daffinson was arrested following a high-speed chase and is being held on a $5 million cash bond set by Judge Tricia Walker. The investigation is ongoing, with over 190 years of prison time possible if convicted, and additional charges anticipated. District Attorney Eric Toney emphasized the seriousness of the allegations and the commitment to protecting the victim and community.
