Israeli FM Sa'ar Visits Ethiopia to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar visited Ethiopia for high-level talks aimed at deepening the longstanding relationship between the two countries. During meetings with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos, both sides emphasized their historic ties and mutual commitment to expanding cooperation in economic, political, diplomatic, and social domains. Key areas of focus included trade, investment, and sectoral partnerships in agriculture, health, education, and technology, with Israel’s delegation exploring new opportunities in these fields. The discussions also addressed shared regional and international concerns, such as terrorism, and highlighted Ethiopia’s strategic importance as a regional partner and gateway to Africa for Israel. The visit follows a recent trip to Israel by Ethiopia’s foreign minister, underscoring ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations. Both countries expressed intent to upgrade their partnership, with a joint economic forum planned to foster collaboration between public and private sectors.
