Crashes Kill, Disrupt Travel in India, US, UK

This week, a string of separate road crashes across India, the United States and the United Kingdom killed two teenagers, injured dozens and disrupted travel. In Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, a private bus carrying 54 pilgrims crashed into a tree and fell into a ditch, killing an 18‑year‑old and injuring 18 people; in a separate motorcycle–tractor collision a 16‑year‑old was killed and four were injured, and police say the bus and tractor drivers fled and have since been booked. In the U.S., multiple crashes — including a box‑truck rollover on I‑57 in Chicago, a multi‑vehicle collision on I‑83 in York County, two collisions on the Capital Beltway near Greentree Road that sent one person to hospital, and an I‑84 crash in Utah — shut lanes, backed up traffic and prompted ongoing investigations; southbound S. College Road in Wilmington has since reopened after utility hazards were cleared. In the U.K., a single‑vehicle crash at the Eastern Avenue/Metz Way junction in Gloucester and a crash on the A35 at Woodlands Road in Ashurst closed roads and disrupted school buses, while planned overnight resurfacing will close the westbound M8 slip‑road near Livingston with diversions in place. Authorities across the affected areas are investigating the incidents and advising motorists to expect delays and use alternate routes.
