Nancy Mace Clashes with Charleston Airport Officers During Campaign

Rep. Nancy Mace (R‑S.C.), who is running for governor, verbally berated Charleston County Aviation Authority officers and TSA staff at Charleston International Airport after a scheduling mix‑up over a promised 6:30 a.m. escort, according to a police incident report obtained by multiple outlets. Officers said they were told she would arrive in a white BMW but she arrived via a different entrance and used the Known Crewmember lane; reporting officers and a TSA supervisor said Mace repeatedly called them “f***ing incompetent” and complained she was not being treated like Sen. Tim Scott. The TSA supervisor filed a separate report, and an American Airlines gate agent told reporters he was in disbelief at her behavior; no arrests or citations were issued but the incident was formally recorded. Mace posted security footage and called the accounts “FAKE NEWS,” while also acknowledging she complained and citing heightened security concerns after recent threats to public figures. An internal review by the aviation authority and the separate TSA report remain outstanding, and accounts from law enforcement, airline staff and Mace differ.
