The Indian Air Force (IAF) has initiated relief operations in flood-affected areas of Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada district, airlifting personnel and relief materials to support local efforts. Concurrently, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the severe floods in the state a national calamity, highlighting significant damages and loss of life. At least 16 fatalities have been reported due to rain-related incidents, with damage estimates reaching around Rs 5,438 crore. The CM announced financial assistance for affected families and urged for immediate central support, including a request for Rs 5,000 crore to address the crisis. Flooding has severely disrupted transportation, impacting over 400 roads and leading to the cancellation of numerous train services. As further rains are predicted, officials are preparing to relocate residents from vulnerable areas to relief camps.
