The film is an adaptation of Giuliano da Empoli’s novel, which tells the story of Vadim Baranov, a TV producer who becomes an advisor to Putin during his rise to power. Law described the daunting task of portraying the Russian leader as akin to 'climbing Everest', expressing a mix of excitement and apprehension about the role. Alongside Law, the cast includes Paul Dano as Baranov, Alicia Vikander, Zach Galifianakis, and Tom Sturridge. The film will explore the political landscape in Russia post-USSR collapse, highlighting Baranov's influence in shaping Putin's ascent.
